This weekend some of our riding club members represented us at the Aston-le-Walls qualifiers at The College EC in Keysoe.

 

Royal Wood had two Junior teams and two Senior teams.  The first phase of the day was the dressage.  This saw some good tests from all members and some unfortunate forgetful members! Esther Smith scored an amazing 26 and Zoe Jones found herself with an outstanding 25 after the dressage.  This meant both our Junior and Senior competitors were on top!

 

The show jumping course gave members of all riding clubs some issues that werent apparent when walking the course. An interesting double with blue wall fillers put a few horses off their stride and gave some riders a problem.  However, all of our riders were able to complete the course and proceed to the Cross-country phase.

 

I think all of the members that competed in the 2009 novice qualifiers were pleasantly surprised by the reduction in height and length of the course! 2009 saw many complaints and issues with the height and technicality of the course.  It seemed apparent this year that the comments were taken on board and the course was much more inviting.  Many of our competitors made it round very easily and some had horses with issues about water!

 

The results of the day meant one of our Junior Novice teams had WON! Zoe Jones also qualified for the finals on Restrospect II after coming second in the Senior section.  We would like to say a massive thank you to all that competed on our behalf and a Well Done and Good Luck to those travelling to Aston-le-Walls for the finals.
